Tatiana (Tanja) Stepanchenko brings a wealth of international experience and passion to her role at Kinetic Gymnastics. A former Ukrainian Elite gymnast, Tatiana's journey in the world of gymnastics has been nothing short of extraordinary. After completing her studies at the University of Physical Education and Sport, she embarked on a new adventure in the United States, showcasing her skills with the renowned Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas. In 2016, Tatiana's path led her to Colorado Springs, where she found her home at Kinetic Gymnastics. Her dedication and exceptional coaching abilities were recognized in 2023 when she was named the Compulsory Coach of the Year, a testament to her impact on young athletes. Drawing from her diverse background as an elite gymnast and performer, Tatiana is deeply committed to providing her athletes with not just technical expertise, but also positive and meaningful life experiences through the art of gymnastics. Her unique blend of world-class skill, performance experience, and passion for teaching continues to inspire and shape the next generation of gymnasts at Kinetic.

Shellee Brandt

Girls Optional Coach
Shellee Brandt is a 36-year-old veteran gymnastics coach with over two decades of experience in the field. Her journey in gymnastics began in her youth, where she trained for nearly 10 years before transitioning into coaching. For the past 13 years, Shellee has been a cornerstone at Kinetic, where she currently manages the gym and coaches various levels of gymnasts. Shellee's expertise spans a wide range, from guiding optional girls at levels 6-10 to assisting with compulsory levels 2-5. Her passion for the sport extends to nurturing young talent, as she also coaches toddlers in gymnastics. With a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Shellee brings a strong academic foundation to her coaching approach. As a mother of two gymnasts herself - one competing at level 10 and another at level 6 - Shellee understands firsthand the dedication required in the sport. She thrives on the active nature of her job and finds fulfillment in working with children, helping them develop both as athletes and individuals.

Donothan Bailey
Girls Optional Coach
Donothan Bailey, 33, brings an exceptional blend of elite-level experience and coaching expertise to the gymnastics community. With an impressive 21-year training career that culminated in his position as a US national team member, Donothan's journey in gymnastics has been nothing short of extraordinary. For the past 15 years, Donothan has worked with a diverse range of athletes across various programs. His coaching repertoire spans high-level and elite gymnastics for boys' and girls' developmental (DP) programs, showcasing his versatility and comprehensive understanding of the sport. His coaching philosophy is deeply rooted in his personal journey, allowing him to connect with and inspire athletes who share his passion for gymnastics. Donothan views his role as an opportunity to give back to the community that has been an integral part of his life, nurturing the next generation of gymnasts with the same dedication and support he received throughout his career. Outside the gym, Donothan enjoys playing guitar, outdoor activities with friends, and spending time with his cat.

At just 19 years old, Athena brings a lifetime of gymnastics experience to her coaching role. Born into the world of gymnastics with a coach for a mother, Athena was practically raised in the gym, developing her skills from an early age. Her dedication and natural aptitude led her to achieve the impressive Platinum level in her competitive career. Despite her youth, Athena has five years of coaching experience, specializing in Organized Team Gymnastics and guiding the Bronze and Silver Xcel Teams. Her passion for coaching stems from the joy of witnessing her students succeed and flourish. Athena firmly believes in the transformative power of gymnastics, viewing it as a vehicle for developing lifelong skills and qualities that extend far beyond the gym. Outside the gym, Athena continues to train gymnastics recreationally for fun, while also enjoying volleyball and maintaining an active lifestyle.

Randy Lane

Randy Lane, the visionary behind Kinetic Gymnastics, was raised in Iowa where his gymnastics journey began. His passion for the sport flourished during his youth, leading him to compete at collegiate levels. Randy's coaching career took root at Michigan State University, where he guided young gymnasts while pursuing his own athletic ambitions. After transferring to Iowa State University, Randy continued to excel both as a competitor and a coach. His move to Colorado in 1992 marked a pivotal moment in his career, as he honed his coaching skills at various gymnastics facilities. In 2008, Randy's entrepreneurial spirit and love for gymnastics culminated in the founding of Kinetic Gymnastics. Today, Randy Lane remains at the helm of Kinetic Gymnastics, channeling his extensive experience and passion into nurturing the next generation of gymnasts. His leadership continues to inspire athletes, fostering an environment where skill, dedication, and personal growth intertwine.

Andriy Stepanchenko
Men's Head Coach
Andriy Stepanchenko is a distinguished professional gymnastics coach with over three decades of experience, including 25 years in the United States. His remarkable journey in the sport has taken him from developing young athletes as an assistant coach to the prestigious position of Head Coach of Men's Gymnastics at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center (USOPTC). Throughout his career, Andriy has focused on nurturing top competitive athletes. His expertise has been recognized at the highest levels of the sport, serving twice as the USA Gymnastics Team Olympic Coach and leading the team at the Pan Am Games. Andriy's influence extends to multiple World Championships, where he has been Head Coach twice and Assistant Coach three times between 2014 and 2021. His dedication and skill earned him the title of USA Gymnastics Men's Artistic Senior Team Coach of the Year in both 2015 and 2016. As a USA Gymnastics Professional Member with SafeSport training and Safety & Risk Management certification, Andriy continues to shape the future of gymnastics, blending his vast experience with a commitment to athlete development and safety.

Cody Myers, 21, from Anchorage, Alaska, has competed in gymnastics for 10 years and brings his experience and enthusiasm to coaching. He enjoys connecting with young athletes and introducing them to the exciting world of gymnastics. Cody is passionate about helping kids develop their skills, confidence, and love for the sport. His focus is on creating a positive and engaging environment where athletes can thrive in their gymnastics training and personal growth.

Sara Townsend
Tumbling Coach
Sara Townsend brings a unique blend of experience and enthusiasm to her role as the tumbling coach at Kinetic Gymnastics. With over two decades of coaching expertise in tumbling, gymnastics, and competitive cheerleading, Sara has honed her skills in developing young athletes. Beyond her coaching prowess, Sara's background is as diverse as it is impressive. She is a certified personal trainer and accomplished bodybuilder, bringing a deep understanding of physical fitness and body mechanics to her coaching approach. Her previous career as a firefighter and paramedic speaks to her commitment to public service and ability to perform under pressure. Sara's coaching philosophy centers on making learning enjoyable and empowering. She motivates her students, helping them become not just skilled tumblers, but confident individuals. Her goal is to instill a sense of strength and self-assurance in each of her athletes, both on and off the mat.

Gail Phillips

Gail brings a unique blend of professional experience and personal passion to her role as a coach at Kinetic Gymnastics. In her full-time career, Gail works as a Business Analyst. However, her heart has always been drawn to working with children, making her coaching position at Kinetic a perfect outlet for this passion. With a decade of experience as an instructor, Gail's expertise spans a variety of disciplines including dance, zumba, tumbling, and gymnastics. This diverse background allows her to bring a well-rounded approach to her coaching, incorporating elements of rhythm, flexibility, and strength into her gymnastics instruction. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, Gail brings a nurturing presence to the gym. Her family-oriented perspective enhances her ability to connect with young athletes and their families, creating a supportive and encouraging environment for learning and growth.

Reba Phillips

Reba Phillips, 27, exemplifies the spirit of coming full circle in her gymnastics journey. As a former Kinetic gymnast from preschool through high school, Reba now returns to her roots as a coach, bringing with her a lifetime of passion and firsthand experience in the sport. Though new to coaching, Reba's deep-seated connection to gymnastics provides her with a unique perspective that resonates with young athletes. Her transition from student to mentor at Kinetic speaks volumes about the gym's nurturing environment and its ability to inspire long-lasting dedication to the sport. As a proud mother, she brings a nurturing touch to her coaching style, understanding the importance of patience, encouragement, and positive reinforcement in child development. Reba's involvement at Kinetic has become a family tradition, with her mother also serving as a coach at the gym. Reba's journey from young gymnast to coach embodies the Kinetic spirit of growth, community, and passing on the love of gymnastics to the next generation. Kyra, a Colorado native, has always had a passion for movement, starting with ballet at a young age. She began gymnastics at 8 years old but, after a knee injury at 12, transitioned to Aerial Arts, where she has been performing, competing, and coaching since 2018. Kyra started coaching to stay connected to both gymnastics and aerial arts, aiming to help kids succeed while ensuring they enjoy their training as much as she did. At 18 years old, Kyra brings youthful energy and a love for movement to the Kinetic Gymnastics team.

Carrie Coryer

Carrie Coryer, a native of Plattsburgh, NY, brings a rich blend of experience to her role at Kinetic Gymnastics. With over three decades in gymnastics coaching, Carrie's career highlights include being part of the 1996 Olympic Tour. Her coaching expertise spans both boys' and girls' recreational classes, as well as competitive girls' teams. Carrie's passion for education is evident in her academic achievements, holding a Bachelor's degree in Human Biology and a Master's in STEM Education. This blend of athletic and academic insight serves her well in her dual roles as a gymnastics coach and a teacher of forensic science and medical detectives at Lewis Palmer Middle School. Married for 27 years to her husband Mike, she is a proud mother of two sons: Evan, a wrestler at Lewis Palmer High School, and Carson, a level 10 gymnast at Kinetic. When not in the gym or classroom, Carrie embraces an active lifestyle, enjoying mountain biking, hiking, and skiing. Having completed a half Ironman, she showcases the same determination she instills in her students and athletes.

Taylor Penrose
Rec Coach
Taylor Penrose was born in North Carolina. She began gymnastics at 11 after a lifelong love for the sport and is now competing as a Diamond-level gymnast. Taylor has cherished every moment of her gymnastics journey, enjoying both the challenge of learning new skills and the camaraderie with her teammates. Her passion for teaching began with coaching her brothers in gymnastics, and she now loves helping other young athletes experience the joy of mastering new skills. Outside of the gym, Taylor enjoys singing, dancing, and spending time with her siblings. She is always pushing herself to be better, whether in gymnastics, school, or life.

Stefan Funk
Parkour Coach
Stefan Funk, 23, is the Parkour Head Coach at Kinetic and also teaches gymnastics. He is leading the design and construction of the parkour gym, collaborating with industry-leading professionals to create an innovative training space. Born in Germany, Stefan's journey in health, fitness, and athletics has taken him across the globe. His diverse coaching background spans personal training, parkour, gymnastics, and American Ninja Warrior. His international experience gives him a unique perspective on athletic development, enriching his teaching methods. With nearly a decade of parkour experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to his coaching. He is committed to nurturing the next generation of athletes while growing the sport of Parkour as a whole. Stefan's coaching philosophy extends beyond mere physical training: for him, the joy of coaching lies in working with kids, helping them discover the joy of movement, and fostering a love for physical activity. Through movement, he teaches expression, discipline, and self-motivation, guiding them to become well-rounded, self-assured individuals. At Kinetic, Stefan continues to inspire and challenge young athletes, embodying the perfect blend of youthful energy and professional expertise.
